First things first. Wow. Wait…was that my initial reaction to when I first witnessed 2Pac Shakur grace the heavenly stages at Coachella while watching live via Youtube? More importantly, did I really believe the audience was seeing a holographic image of 2Pac on stage screaming “Coachella?” Was technology taking a turn for the hearse? So many questions ran through the minds of many the night of April 15, 2012.

Not only was Coachella putting on the most amazing performances in music, but they broadcasted it live which was the most amazing thing; at least for some that were unfortunate to attend the 3-day festival.

Anyways, the topic of discussion here is the main act of the last day at Coachella. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg sure as hell in the blazing desert heat put on a performance that was heavily reminiscent of the legendary Up In Smoke Tour. Not only did the two Hip-Hop icons perform some of their most memorable songs such as “Nuthin’ But a G Thang,” “Still D.R.E.” and their very first collaborative, “Deep Cover”, but Dre also brought out his calvary to Indio, California.

Kendrick Lamar proved to the world once again why he’s more than deserving to be anything but the next hype in Hip-Hop; but rather to be entitled as Dr. Dre’s next protege. Hailing straight out of Compton, Lamar delivered verses that was reminiscent of Andre 3000 before he stepped out of his spaceship. The night wouldn’t have been right without the crowd singing along to a Nate Dogg tribute. 50 Cent sure as hell lit up the stage with gun shots as him and Tony Yayo rushed the stage performing “What Up Gangsta.” It’s been a while since fans have seen 50 Cent active in the rap scene and personally, it was refreshing to feel his raw energy and presence as he kicked things up a notch.

If that wasn’t enough for surprises, now came the moment of truth, so to say. The lights went dark. Haunting bells that sounded all too familiar rang throughout the speakers as music continued to play. Lightning bolts struck from the TV screens as the crowd grew very curious as to what they could possibly be witnessing. Could this be something I just might remember when I get home after fearing and loathing in Coachella? A body slowly rose from the stage with his head down; “Thug Life” tatted across his belly with a microphone in his hand. Those that were puffin’ away in the crowd most definitely thought they were trippin’. Yes, 2Pac Shakur rose from the grave to rap “Hail Mary” as the world stopped spinning for five minutes. Holographic technology allowed for such a miracle to happen, leaving many 2Pac fans all around the world shedding a tear while others felt confused and some even angry.

How did I feel? I couldn’t have been more shocked and at the same time, amazed from what I just saw. I wasn’t offended at all since the only people warranted in this world to do such a thing is Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. 2Pac is still resting in peace and if anything, he’s smiling down. He ain’t mad at them. Coachella 2012 was a night to remember, and maybe the year to remember for the rest of Coachella history. That might be a stretch but I stand by what I said.

Of course, after the most mind-blowing experience, how could you stop there? Skylar Grey appeared on the screen as we all knew who was coming next. It was unfortunate Dr. Dre’s set was only one hour limited. Otherwise, we would’ve seen Eminem perform more than one verse from three songs. I can’t complain though. Coachella 2012…I wish I was there but at least I watched it live. Also, this was a piece definitely worth writing.

Just re-watched one of my favorite foreign films (Samaria aka Samaritan Girl) directed by the best director in the world – Kim Ki-Duk, and it had me wondering. What is a samaritan? An inhabitant of Samaria? Or perhaps someone that seeks out to help others in a time of distress. Of course both are correct but the latter really helps me to reflect on a question of what we are doing with ourselves? Ultimately, we all want to live in harmony. With that said, everyone needs to advance in this world in order to get to our next destination. What’s the destination? Who knows. But I suppose life wouldn’t be a thrill without the uncertainties that has us looking back and saying, “What a ride that was!” I do get ahead of myself though…sometimes. I think I just need to sit back and enjoy the movie for what it is and not get too caught up with the intricacies while listening to some classical music. That sounds soothing.

P.S. Kwak Ji-Min is amazing and I’m definitely a fan!

I want to take a timeout for a minute and just thank all my social media listeners ( I don’t like calling them followers, but rather listeners) for keeping an open ear for music as well as helping me progress through my journey in this music game. As good as one is with producing/singing/rapping etc, networking is the most important thing to really get across in this world. I find myself trying to find a balance between the hard work I put into producing music as well as hosting my radio show. I also have a difficult time balancing out the ability to get myself out there and really network through the social media world. I guess it’s not as easy as one would like it to be. Life’s a grind but I’m always thankful for all the support I come across whether I’ve met you in person or through the net.

Like many who are discussing about Duck Sauce’s new music video, Big Bad Wolf, I couldn’t help but to write a response in reaction to how I felt after watching it. Like as if I needed drops of Naphcon to clear my vision, I couldn’t believe what I saw; more like a, WTF?! moment. With such provocative content, attention attracts. Let me summarize what goes down in the video:

1. Two guys of no relation go out for the night trying to “score” with the ladies. Right off the bat you’ll notice they’re caring excess baggage in…their pants. 2. We realize the excess baggage is actually heads that are attached to the genital region of the two lead male actors in the video. These heads are non other than A-Trak and Armand Van Helden. At first, the video is clearly humorous as the two actors get ready and shower and shave to go out. One man shaves his beard as well as the beard down on his crotch (Van Helden’s facial beard). The other man sprays deodorant all over his body including his crotch area (A-Trak’s face). 3. Now, things start to get interesting as the two men meet only to go out and find women to dance with. Pants gets dropped, faces of all begin chanting, “The Big Bad Wolf.” Faces from above and below begin making out with their counterparts. 4. Okay, as ping pong balls fly from crotch to mouth and A-Trak spews “white fluid” from his mouth, indicating that he’s “done,” the end scene shows a man and a woman lying in bed smoking a cigarette, four cigarettes total *wink*.

I suppose the title “Big Bad Wolf” is a metaphor indicating men and even women think between their legs? I can’t summarize exactly what the meaning or concept was behind this video but after watching it, I was provoked. Then, after a second viewing, I found myself watching the video over again and again. What is it with things that are controversial that becomes such an impact in pop culture? Perhaps something is sparked deep within our medulla oblongata that has never been reached? I’m not sure but I do agree with Youtube’s age-restriction considering, well, you’re just going to have to watch it for yourself and decide. I’m not going to lie, after several viewings (the sicko that I am) I really found this video entertaining and it made the song sound even better. It’s too bad every time I hear this song, I won’t be envisioning wolves, but rather a different visual.

Okay, so I’m going to go about this like as if it’s real and not fan made. I never knew Justice performed on The Simpsons. How awesome is that?! I also think it’s really funny how well the artists drew Gaspard and Xavier down to a science. I’d love to appear in The Simpsons one day. *wink wink* That’s it. That is all. Oh and I wonder what song they were playing?

Scrambled eggs and toast with sriracha. Chips and salsa of course. And now, here’s an update on what P.SLUVmovement is up to now that both “Revisited REMIXES mixtape” and “Straight Outta Cinemas”  are out.

1. Working on a new EP that’s sure to drop harder than basslines played through an electric guitar.

2. This new project will have a heavy influence of 80s rock music mixed with electro that’s sure to get the dance floor poppin’ like pop tarts.

3. This EP will be pushed more heavily than previous albums released towards all listeners and labels. (Support will definitely be needed)

With all this said, there is only one dilemma. What shall I title this new EP? Once again, 80s rock electro really says it all. I suppose the time will come when something interesting pops in my head. As far as a release date, I’d love to push out one more album before the end of the year but that might be pushing it. More update coming soon!
