Just a heads up on what to expect from the “Revisited REMIXES mixtape” that is dropping within the week.
Although I feel no classic material should be touched or altered in any way, this album is more of a revisitation to such hip-hop classics like Nas’ Life’s a Bitch to Busta Rhymes’ Woo Hah! (got you all in check).
Over the years, hip-hop has changed in many ways since the days when Rakim taught us not to sweat the technique. While Eminem took us to new heights with his lyricism, Jay-Z has shown his hustler spirit as he continues to remain consistent to this day topping the charts to become one of the wealthiest rappers ever. From Nas’ poetic tales of street life in Queensbridge to Snoop Dogg’s trials and tribulations in Long Beach, the rap game has been on an exhilarating ride as it gave birth to such superstars as Lil Wayne as well as the Game.
With the coming-of-age of a new generation, like sampling songs and creating beats, the motive is to bring a new audience on a trip to revisit classic materials that may only be found through the digging of the crates; or rather, scrolling of the iPod.
